Accessibility and Compliance is NovaLab's service for organisations that need a website to meet WCAG 2.2 AA. A $300 Risk Check scans every template and returns a severity summary. A full audit and conformance report costs $1,800, and remediation of the standard template set costs $4,500.
What you get
A scanner can count violations. It cannot tell you whether somebody using only a keyboard can finish your checkout. Accessibility and Compliance runs both halves, automated for coverage and manual for the rest.
- Automated scan across templates. Every template tested against WCAG 2.2 AA machine-checkable rules, findings grouped by severity rather than listed raw.
- Manual keyboard pass. Every interactive element reached and operated by keyboard alone, checking focus order, focus visibility, and focus traps.
- Screen-reader pass. Key journeys driven with a screen reader, recording what is announced, what is silent, and what is announced wrongly.
- WCAG 2.2 AA criterion references. Each finding mapped to a numbered success criterion, so a developer knows the rule and a reviewer can verify the fix.
- Remediation on the standard template set. Semantic structure, labels, ARIA, focus management, contrast and reflow corrected in code, not described in a document.
- CI regression test. An accessibility check in your build pipeline where the platform supports it, so a deploy that reintroduces a violation fails the build.
Automated scanning catches only a portion of WCAG 2.2 AA issues, commonly cited at around a third. The rest need a person operating the site. A scan sold on its own is a third of the job.
Pricing
| Tier | What it is | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Risk Check | Automated scan across templates, one-page severity summary, plain statement of what automated scanning does and does not catch. | $300 |
| Audit and Conformance Report | Automated scan plus manual keyboard and screen-reader pass on up to 8 templates, with WCAG 2.2 AA criterion references. | $1,800 |
| Remediation | Standard template set brought to conformance, with a CI regression test. | $4,500 |
| Monitoring | Ongoing scanning and fixes. Higher-volume publishers quoted separately. | $1,200 / month |
The $300 Risk Check is credited against the $1,800 Audit and Conformance Report. Sites with more than 8 templates are quoted on template count, which the Risk Check establishes.
The regulations, stated plainly
- European Accessibility Act. Applies since 28 June 2025. It covers a defined set of products and services offered to consumers in the European Union, including many websites and mobile applications.
- ADA Title II, United States. The Department of Justice rule carries compliance deadlines in April 2026 and April 2027, with the applicable date depending on the size of the public entity. Title II covers state and local government entities.
Those are facts about the regulations, not advice about your situation. NovaLab provides technical remediation and not legal counsel. Whether either rule applies to you is a lawyer's question.
How it works
- Risk Check, two days. NovaLab scans every template against WCAG 2.2 AA machine-checkable rules and returns a one-page severity summary plus a count of your distinct templates.
- Audit and Conformance Report, one to two weeks. Automated results confirmed by hand, then a keyboard pass and a screen-reader pass on up to 8 templates. Every finding carries a numbered criterion and a reproduction path.
- Remediation, two to four weeks. Findings fixed in code on a branch, in severity order, each fix verified by repeating the test that found it.
- CI regression test. An accessibility check added to your build pipeline where the platform supports it, so the next deploy cannot undo the work.
- Monitoring, monthly. Scheduled scanning, small fixes, and a monthly note on anything your own releases introduced.
Those durations are scoping estimates, not commitments. A custom component library or heavy client-side routing adds time.
Is this right for you
It suits you if
- You sell into the European Union, or you are a state or local government entity in the United States.
- A complaint, a demand letter or a procurement questionnaire has asked you about WCAG.
- You ran a scanner, saw a number, and cannot tell which findings matter.
- You want the fixes made, not a long report handed to a team with no capacity.
It does not suit you if
- You want a compliance badge or an overlay widget. NovaLab does neither.
- You want legal advice on whether a regulation applies to you. That is a lawyer's work.
- You need a signed statement that your site will never face a claim. Nobody honest sells that.
- Your site is about to be replaced. Remediating a template set you are retiring wastes budget.
Questions people ask
How much does an accessibility audit cost?
The Risk Check is $300 and returns a one-page severity summary across your templates. The full Audit and Conformance Report is $1,800 and covers up to 8 templates with WCAG 2.2 AA criterion references. Remediation of the standard template set costs $4,500. Ongoing monitoring and fixes run at $1,200 a month.
Does an automated accessibility scan find every problem?
No. Automated scanning catches only a portion of WCAG 2.2 AA issues, commonly cited at roughly a third, and the rest need a human. A scanner can see a missing alt attribute or a contrast failure. It cannot judge whether alt text is useful, whether focus order makes sense, or whether a screen reader announces a custom widget correctly.
What is the European Accessibility Act deadline?
The European Accessibility Act has applied since 28 June 2025. It covers a defined set of products and services offered to consumers in the European Union, including many websites and mobile applications. Whether it applies to you depends on what you sell, where, and your size. NovaLab does technical work against WCAG 2.2 AA and does not advise on scope.
When are the ADA Title II web accessibility deadlines?
The United States Department of Justice rule under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act carries compliance deadlines in April 2026 and April 2027, with the date depending on the size of the public entity. Title II covers state and local government entities. It does not cover private businesses, which fall under different parts of the ADA.
Can you make my site legally compliant?
NovaLab does technical remediation against WCAG 2.2 AA and documents every change, which is the evidence a legal review needs. NovaLab is not a law firm and does not provide legal counsel. Whether a given regulation applies to your organisation, and what compliance means for you, is a question for a qualified lawyer in the relevant jurisdiction.
What is the difference between the Risk Check and the Audit?
Depth and method. The $300 Risk Check is automated scanning across your templates plus a severity summary, and it tells you the size of the problem. The $1,800 Audit and Conformance Report adds a manual keyboard pass and a screen-reader pass on up to 8 templates, with each finding mapped to a numbered WCAG 2.2 AA success criterion.
How long does remediation take?
Two to four weeks for the $4,500 Remediation on a standard template set, once the audit is agreed. Complex single-page applications and custom widget libraries take longer, and NovaLab says so before starting. The CI regression test is set up at the end, so the work stays done after the next deploy.
Will accessibility work change how my site looks?
Mostly not. Focus indicators become visible, which is a visual change and a required one under WCAG 2.2 AA. Contrast failures need a colour or weight change. Everything else, semantic structure, labels, ARIA, keyboard order and screen-reader output, is invisible to a sighted mouse user.
Related services
Accessibility and Compliance overlaps two other NovaLab services. Site Performance and Technical Fixes works on the same render path and often ships in the same branch. AI and Search Visibility gains from the same semantic structure, because headings, landmarks and labels are read by assistants and screen readers alike. The two regulations that carry dates are set out in the accessibility compliance deadlines guide. All five services sit on the services overview, with every price on the pricing page.
