AI and Search Visibility is one service covering both search engines and AI assistants, because the underlying work is largely the same. NovaLab audits how a site is found, fixes what blocks it, and tracks which sources get cited instead of you. It is for companies whose organic traffic has stopped growing. It starts at $400.
What you get
Three questions decide whether anything finds you. Can a crawler reach the page. Does the page answer a question someone actually asked. Does the machine reading it know what entity the page describes. The AI and Search Visibility service answers all three, then fixes what it finds.
- Technical crawl. Indexation, canonical tags, redirect chains, sitemap accuracy, and Core Web Vitals measured on key templates, not just the homepage.
- Crawler access configuration. Your robots.txt and edge rules checked against GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, ClaudeBot, Claude-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended, Applebot-Extended, Googlebot and Bingbot, with the tradeoff explained before anything changes.
- Query gap list. The top 20 queries where two competitors you name rank and you do not, with the page that would have to exist or improve.
- Prompt panel. A fixed set of category questions run across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot and Google AI Overviews, recording whether you appear, how you are framed, and which domains are cited instead.
- Entity and schema remediation. Schema.org markup for Organization, Service, FAQPage, BreadcrumbList and Article where each applies, connected by @id references so the graph resolves.
- Prioritised roadmap. What to fix, in what order, with an effort estimate against each item.

How it works
- Visibility Snapshot, about one week. The crawl runs, the gap list is built against two competitors you name, and the prompt panel runs for the first time. You get the document and the raw data.
- Visibility Audit, two to three weeks. Full technical and content audit, entity and citation baseline so later movement can be measured, and a roadmap with effort estimates.
- Foundation Build, two to four weeks, optional. Schema and entity markup corrected, crawler access configured to the decision you made, citation surfaces mapped.
- Retainer, monthly. Each cycle NovaLab re-runs the prompt panel, ships the next roadmap items, and reports what moved against the baseline and what did not.
Those durations are scoping estimates, not commitments. A large site with many templates takes longer, and NovaLab says so up front.
Is this right for you
It suits you if
- You have a real site with real content, and traffic that has flattened or fallen.
- You sell something a person would plausibly ask an assistant to recommend.
- You can ship code changes, or let NovaLab ship them.
- You can commit three months to the Foundation retainer.
It does not suit you if
- You want a fixed position by a fixed date. Nobody can sell that honestly, and NovaLab will not.
- Your site is two weeks old with four pages. Write the content first. It is cheaper.
- You need results inside the month. The Snapshot takes a week and the retainer works in monthly cycles.
- You want a report rather than changes. The retainer assumes fixes get shipped.
Questions people ask
How much does AI and Search Visibility cost?
AI and Search Visibility starts at $400 for the Visibility Snapshot. The Visibility Audit is $1,200 and is credited against the first retainer month. Retainers are $1,200 a month for Foundation with a three-month minimum, $2,400 a month for Growth and $4,000 a month for Scale. The optional Foundation Build is a one-off $2,250. The Snapshot fee is credited against what follows.
What is the difference between SEO and AI visibility?
There is less difference than the two names suggest, which is why NovaLab sells them as one service. Both depend on a crawler reaching the page, the page answering a question someone actually asked, and the machine reading it knowing what entity the page describes. AI assistants add one layer. They cite specific sources, so the work includes tracking which domains get cited in your category and why.
Can you promise my site will appear in ChatGPT answers?
No. No supplier controls what a model returns, so NovaLab does not promise placement in any assistant answer. What the AI and Search Visibility service does is measurable. Crawler access is configured, schema is corrected, query gaps are closed, and a fixed prompt panel is re-run on a schedule so you can see what moved, what did not, and which sources were cited instead.
How long before anything changes?
The Visibility Snapshot takes about a week. The Visibility Audit takes two to three weeks depending on site size. Fixes ship during the retainer in monthly cycles. How fast anything moves depends on your site, your competitors and the crawl rate of each engine, so NovaLab reports movement against the baseline rather than predicting a date.
Do I have to buy the retainer after the audit?
No. The Visibility Audit is a standalone $1,200 deliverable and you can take the roadmap to your own team or to another supplier. The credit exists so you are not paying twice if you do continue with NovaLab. If you stop after the Snapshot or the Audit, you keep the document and the raw data behind it.
Which AI assistants do you check?
The prompt panel covers ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot and Google AI Overviews. Each prompt is run more than once, because these systems are non-deterministic and a single answer is not a result. The panel records whether you appear, in what position, how you are framed, and which domains were cited instead of yours.
How do you pick the competitors you compare me against?
You name them. The Visibility Snapshot compares your site against two competitors you choose, because you know who you lose deals to and a tool does not. If you are not sure, NovaLab proposes a shortlist based on who currently ranks for your queries and who gets cited in your category, and you confirm the two before the run starts.
Do you need access to my site to do this?
Yes, for most of the work. The Visibility Snapshot needs only public access, plus read access to Google Search Console and your analytics if you have them. The Visibility Audit and everything after it needs the ability to change the site, either through your own team or by giving NovaLab access.
What happens if my robots.txt blocks AI crawlers?
NovaLab reports it and explains the tradeoff before changing anything. Blocking GPTBot or Google-Extended keeps your content out of model training and, in some cases, out of the answers those systems produce. That is a business decision about your own content, not a technical default, so the client makes the call.
Related services
AI and Search Visibility overlaps with two other NovaLab services. Site Performance and Technical Fixes resolves the Core Web Vitals and template problems an audit surfaces. Measurement and Tracking makes sure the analytics reporting the change is telling the truth. All five sit on the services overview, with every price on the pricing page.
The reasoning behind these prices is in the what does SEO cost guide, and what an assistant answer actually measures is in what is AI visibility.
